Privacy Checklist

Privacy Checklist

A practical, basics-first checklist. Do the top items first; they reduce the most risk for the least effort.

Account security

  • Use a password manager
  • Unique password for every account
  • Enable 2FA (authenticator app/security key preferred)
  • Review account recovery options

Device basics

  • Keep OS and apps updated
  • Use a screen lock (PIN/biometric)
  • Turn on full-disk encryption (default on most modern devices)

Browser privacy

  • Use a privacy-respecting browser and keep it updated
  • Block third-party cookies (or use strict tracking protection)
  • Audit extensions; remove what you don’t need

Network & travel

  • Be careful on public Wi‑Fi; avoid sensitive logins unless necessary
  • If you use a VPN, choose one for security/track record—not marketing
  • Be skeptical of cheap travel eSIM resellers; vet the provider
